Grip sport and armwrestling were the test of whether flexRep's foundation was actually general-purpose. They demand specificity — a wrist angle, a per-set grip, a particular forearm muscle — that most lifting apps collapse into "forearms · isometric · 20 seconds." We didn't want to collapse it.

Pronated, supinated, neutral, hook, top-roll, cup. Picked per set, separate from the exercise's default grip — so when you cycle from hook to top-roll mid-session, the receipt remembers exactly what each set was.

The angle entry only appears when the set type is an isometric hold, or when the exercise is time-based. Wrist angle in armwrestling, elbow angle in a loaded dead hang — captured as a number, not buried in a free-text note.

Wrist flexors, wrist extensors, finger flexors, pronators, supinators, brachioradialis. Each gets its own axis on the muscle radar when you turn on the fine view. Hammer curls credit brachioradialis specifically. Wrist roller credits flexors and extensors. Pronation drills credit pronators. A specialization phase reads as specialization, not imbalance.
The fine forearm radar shows the six specialized axes lit up next to the standard upper-body polygon. Because the app knows your goal is grip-focused, the verdict skips the push-pull pair check — so your specialization week doesn't read as imbalance. The static hold logs the exact wrist angle at peak. The receipt carries the grip chip inline.

Per-set grip override
Compact chip row inside the set editor. The chosen grip renders on the receipt as a small badge, the same shape as the RPE chip — quick to spot, easy to scan back through.
Appears below the primary entry only when the hold needs it. Useful for any static where the elbow or wrist angle matters — an armwrestling hold, a fingerboard lock-off, a Captain-of-Crush close.
Strap, handle, pulley, gripper, wrist roller, pinch block — all bundled. Picker chips include them automatically. Grippers default to a 5 lb (or 2.5 kg) step so small wins read as small wins.
When your profile goal is armwrestling, climbing, grip, or strongman, the antagonist-balance verdict skips the push-pull and chest-back pairs. A specialization phase isn't imbalance, and the AI knows the difference.
The category is so niche it mostly doesn't have apps — federation portals and Notes drafts dominate. flexRep is, by accident of the schema being designed honestly, the first general-purpose strength logger that knows what a Captain-of-Crush close is.
