No mainstream lifting app lets them represent their training honestly — standing-only libraries, scoring tuned for non-disabled bodies, "fix your asymmetry" warnings about the way they simply train. flexRep is the first that was actually built for them, and it shows from the first screen.

Why it's different

Three commitments, not a compliance checkbox.

Adaptive athletes know instantly whether an app was built for them or bolted on as an afterthought. These are the three places flexRep proves it meant it.

An identity, not a setting

Adaptive is a peer at onboarding.

When you set up flexRep, Adaptive Training sits beside Powerlifting and Bodybuilding as an equal choice — not a checkbox buried in an accessibility drawer. Pick it, pick a context (wheelchair / seated, single-side primary, or ambulatory adaptive), and the whole app re-orients around the body you actually train with.

A library that assumes your body

Your movements lead the picker.

Seated, wheelchair, and single-arm variants surface first — Single-Arm Cable Row at the top, not buried under standing barbell lifts. Single-side work is treated as a normal loading model, with real per-set laterality and effective-load math, never flagged as an "imbalance" to correct.

Analytics that tell the truth

Right numbers, or an honest blank.

Scores calibrated only for able-bodied lifters (Wilks, DOTS, IPF) are withheld — not faked — with a note that WPPO / IPF-Para coefficients backfill automatically when sanctioning bodies publish them. Volume bands carry a general-population caveat instead of firing "above MRV" warnings tuned for someone else.

What turns on

One identity choice re-tunes the library, the verdicts, and the analytics — quietly, everywhere, without ever shipping a worse version of the product.

Single-side as primary

Long-press an exercise and declare single-side as your primary movement. Antagonist-balance and asymmetry verdicts go quiet for that lift — the same suppression hooks powerlifters and grip athletes already use.

A glyph that reads you right

The personal strength glyph and muscle radar describe a deliberate unilateral pattern as "unilateral focus," not "imbalanced." Lower-body radar axes for seated athletes are annotated for reference, never shown as a permanent deficit.

Load, not lectures

Consistency and Acute:Chronic Workload move above the e1RM trend, because those are the signals adaptive training actually turns on. A flare-driven lighter week is read as context, not a stall to scold.

Scoring as a positive

Where a Wilks card would sit, an "Adaptive Sport Scoring" card names WPPO explicitly and promises your raw lifts are being recorded now — so scores backfill the day the tables publish. An absence, framed as a forward-looking yes.

The foundation

Accessible all the way down.

Adaptive training rides on an accessibility layer that was never an afterthought. The log loop works eyes-free, at any text size, with calm motion and color that's never the only signal.

VoiceOver, with named actions

The whole log loop is operable eyes-free. Every control is a named action rather than a hunt-for-the-gesture, swipe up or down on the weight and reps to step them, and when a sheet opens the VoiceOver cursor lands where you need it — on the search field, on the form title — instead of behind the modal.

Dynamic Type that scales the hero

The big weight and reps numerals grow with your text-size setting through UIFontMetrics instead of clipping. Turn the system text all the way up and the most important number on the screen gets bigger, not truncated.

Reduce Motion, centrally gated

Every spring, glow, and repeating animation routes through one motion gate. Switch on Reduce Motion and the breathing guides, PR pulses, and waveform draw-ins resolve to calm cross-fades — no vestibular surprises, enforced by a lint test so it can never regress.

Color, measured — not assumed

PR territory, set types, and chart states never rely on hue alone — a PR carries a badge and a shape, the heatmap ships a legend. And we measured the ratios: every foreground/background pair audited against WCAG 1.4.3 and 1.4.11, with an Increase Contrast path that brings the accent button to AA — checked by 15 tests that fail the build if a new color slips below the line.

Larger tap targets

Every interactive control clears the 44-point minimum, and an optional "bigger buttons while resting" mode swells the log controls between sets — exactly when chalky, tired hands need the margin most.

One-handed reach

The load-bearing controls live in the thumb zone at the bottom of the screen. A one-handed layout keeps weight, reps, and Log reachable without a stretch — from a chair, with a bar still racked, or with a phone in a glove.

Accessible where it's newest

The contract holds for the live moments, too.

It's easy to label a static screen. The hard part is the real-time loop, the second device, and the senses beyond sight. flexRep closed those gaps — and wrote tests so they stay closed.

The dynamic moments now speak

A live logging app is mostly events — and they used to be silent for VoiceOver. Now rest hitting zero, the 25%-remaining mark, a set landing, and a new PR are all spoken aloud the instant they happen. You stay in the loop hands-free, eyes-free, without swiping to check the timer.

Heard or seen — never only felt

Confirmation never depends on a haptic you might not feel. The rest-complete banner holds for eight seconds so a Deaf lifter with the phone propped across the rack catches it, and a PR draws a hard border stroke — visible without color, without motion, in every contrast mode.

Accessible on the wrist, too

The Watch and Live Activity were audited, not waved through. Swipe up or down to step weight and reps under VoiceOver, Double-Pinch to log without touching the screen, Reduce Motion calms the timer ring, and rest-end is announced on the wrist. The plate and weekly widgets read their numbers in plain English.

Charts you can hear

The Canvas-drawn visuals — the load trace, the body atlas, the exercise constellation — expose an audio graph and per-region navigation. Every chart in the app carries a spoken descriptor, enforced by a test that fails the build if a new chart ships without one.

The honest part

We'd rather show a blank than a wrong number.

Wilks, DOTS, and IPF coefficient tables were built from datasets of able-bodied lifters. There is no peer-reviewed adaptive-sport coefficient to plug in yet. So flexRep withholds the score and says why — instead of printing a confident number that doesn't describe your body.

Your raw lifts are recorded now. When WPPO and IPF-Para publish standardized tables, the scores backfill automatically against the history you've already logged. The volume landmarks carry the same honesty: a general-population caveat, surfaced at the top of the chart, not buried in a caption.
