For the climber

Hangboard edges and V-scale grades, first-class.

V0 through V17, picked from a chip row right on the set. Edge depth in millimetres, from a 5 mm crimp to a 40 mm jug. Repeater protocols (7 on / 3 off, six times) logged as one entry so a hangboard session counts as a hangboard session — not six false "working sets" that pollute your volume math. The climbing fields only show up when you reach for a climbing exercise. Bench press doesn't ask you for a grade.

The pitch

Where flexRep meets you.

Adding climbing was a small change to a wide foundation — a grade, an edge depth, three pieces of equipment, a category. No new app, no new tab, no new sync. Just a logger that finally treats hangboard time as something more specific than "an isometric exercise without context."

V-scale grades on the set.

Tap a V-grade chip and it lands on the set. The picker shows the Font equivalent inline (V4 ≈ 6c). A bouldering session can mix freely — a V2 warmup, a working V5, an attempted V7 — and the chip row scrolls the full V0–V17 range.

Edge depth in millimetres.

Preset buttons in 5 mm steps from 5 to 40 mm. Pair it with the isometric set type and a duration, then add or assist load if you're weighted, and you've described a dead hang the way a coach would describe it — not a free-text note.

Repeaters log as one entry.

A 7-on / 3-off protocol six times through is six mini-holds that share a single parent. The receipt expands so you can see them; the volume math counts the protocol once, not six times. The cluster-set tooling does the heavy lifting in the background.

A hangboard session, honestly

20 mm edge · 12 s hangs · +10 kg.

Six mini-holds chained under one parent — your repeater protocol as a single entry, with the mini-holds visible if you tap in. The receipt shows the edge in millimetres, the load (BW + 10 kg), and the duration. The volume counter ticks once for the protocol, not six times.

HANGBOARD · BEASTMAKER 1000 REPEATER · 7-ON / 3-OFF × 6
  1. S1 20 mm half-crimp BW + 10 kg 12s
  2. S2 20 mm half-crimp BW + 10 kg 12s
  3. S3 20 mm half-crimp BW + 10 kg 12s
  4. S4 20 mm half-crimp BW + 10 kg 12s
  5. S5 20 mm half-crimp BW + 10 kg 12s
  6. S6 20 mm half-crimp BW + 10 kg 12s

Five features doing real work for you.

Out of the The Climber's thirty-six daily features, these are the ones that earn their seat at the rack.

Grade and edge on every climbing set

V0–V17 chip row, preset edge depths from 5 to 40 mm. Round-trips cleanly into CSV, JSON, and full backup — your grades and edges move with you.

Three new equipment types

Hangboard, climbing wall, and climbing hold — each with its own icon in the picker. No plate calculator, no weight-rounding heuristics that don't apply.

Isometric holds with duration

Dead hangs, lock-offs, and lever holds carry a duration. We don't fake a one-rep max from a 12-second hold, and we don't score volume as zero — the muscle frequency still counts.

Climbing fields stay out of the way

Grade chip and edge buttons appear when you pick a climbing exercise. Pick a bench press and they're gone. The logger only shows what the lift actually uses.

Forearm muscles, finely tracked

Six forearm groups — wrist flexors, wrist extensors, finger flexors, pronators, supinators, brachioradialis — get their own axes on the muscle radar when you turn on the fine view. Hangboard work credits finger flexors specifically, not just "forearms."

How it stacks up for a climber

Climbing apps are mostly route-loggers or session-timers. Lifting apps mostly assume you're holding a barbell. flexRep is the first general-purpose strength logger that knows what a hangboard is.

Refusals are also features.

  • We don't auto-translate V-scale to Font.
  • We don't lock climbing behind a "Pro" tier.
  • We don't broadcast your grades to a leaderboard.
  • We don't fake a 1RM from a 12-second hang.
